SALSArobics was created by Colombian-born Esther Gutiérrez Sloan. Esther has performed SALSArobics on national television and local television in Illinois and California. She and other SALSArobics instructors teach SALSArobics at several locations in the Chicago area. Esther has led SALSArobics exhibitions and presentations at fitness conventions, health clubs, high schools and ethnic festivals nationally and internationally.
Esther's mission is to improve people's health and well-being by giving them joyful exposure to Latino culture as a source of fun and fitness through its music and dance.
In February, 2010, Esther Gutiérrez Sloan received the annual "Keeper of the Flame" award from the Chicago International Salsa Congress for her lifelong efforts to keep Latin music and dance alive in our culture.
Esther Gutiérrez Sloan was inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame on March 14, 2010, in recognition of her pioneering efforts to introduce authentic Latin rhythms and dance steps into aerobic exercise more than twenty years ago when she created SALSArobics.
